Week 10

Soooo The whole city of Santiago got downgraded to phase 1 quarantine which means we have 4 hours a week to leave the house and buy food. From what I've heard it sounds like it'll be that way for 5ish weeks, but last time they were in phase 1 it was for 5 months soooo... Anyways we are still able to teach people over the phone and have been able to find some really cool people from the area book. It's not ideal, but it's a huge blessing to even have a phone considering our mission just got smart phones within the last year. But yeah, we've just been progressing with people and Camila made it to church so when we go back to phase 2 she can be baptized! Since we were inside a lot of the week and there isn't a lot to write about I'll leave you with this,  I came across Alma 37:36-37 this week, 36 Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be...

Week 9

Business is BOOMIN I'm still a vegetable whenever somebody tries talking to me in Spanish, but it is definitely improving Yesterday we taught an old woman named Alycia. She has read the Book of Mormon a little bit, but it was our first lesson with her. Anyways she was super receptive and wants to get baptized so that was super hype.  We are also teaching Camila who is 8 years old. She's by far my favorite person to teach because I have the Spanish vocab of a third grader, so I can understand most of what's going on. She wants to get baptized too, and all she needs is to go to church one more time. It's kind of hard though because her parents aren't supportive at all. Though she does live with her grandma who is a member so we will see what happens. Both Camilas grandmother and Alycia are super sweet women, and I complimented them on their lush garden AND collection of Russian nesting dolls when I was heading out the door. We have another lesson with ...

Week 8

We were in quarantine all week until yesterday. It is super nice getting out of the apartment. We did a lot of lessons over the phone in quarantine. We still can't door to door proselyte, but we can go to members houses and investigators that we have been talking to last week, so we´ll have a pretty busy week.  All the food here is fried or loaded with oil so if I don't go on a broccoli only diet at the apartment I'll probably come back with diabetes.  Anyways the locals here are super cool and have been really patient with my Spanish. We've already had a ton of tender mercies and good experiences. hasta luego chonchos Taking a stroll in the local market

Week 7

Hola,  I made it down to Chile safely! The flight here was kind of lame but it's all good. I was able to see my MTC district at the airport so that was cool. The first day we went to the mission office and met the mission president, and they're super cool. He said that our mission is the poor part of Santiago and there are a lot of people that need to hear the gospel, so I'm excited. My trainer Elder Ruggs es un perro. We had a "get to know u" activity at the mission office and the first thing he said is that he loves lucha libre so we've been quoting Nacho all week. I have to be in a 10 day quarantine this week so I haven't done much. But we did go to the market today and got some food, and it was very good. The members are really nice here and have dropped off grub at our apartment everyday. I had my first lesson on the phone last night with a man named Gerardo, and he said that he'd start praying. My Spanish obviously sucks, but I was able to teac...

Weeks 5&6

Hola amigos. My last day of MTC ended on Friday, and it went really well. I had a ton of good experiences and my district was really fun. I have been able to grow a lot closer to Christ the last six weeks, and be more focused on my purpose. I am very much ready to leave next week though. I have been able to study the books of Moses while in the MTC and the biggest takeaway I got was obedience. Deuternonomy 30:16 says, "In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in thy ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgements, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to posses it."  The Isrealites were blessed with so many miracles when they were obedient to the Lord's commandments. When I've been obedient i have noticed blessings in my own life, and I know that'll be important for the rest of my mission and after. Goonin The boys came to my farewell talk My district
